Magnetic Balls - Intro

I wanted to take a series of pictures of the tiny spherical rare-earth magnets often marketed as Bucky-Balls. These are not (as one might be tempted to believe from the naming) a Buckminster Fuller Ball which is a much more interesting (but way too small to photograph) object.

I have had a silver set of 216 for some time but this year got two more (gold and black) sets for my birthday. Here's my first intro photos:
